The great state of Alaska is famous for it bountiful seafood and Bluewater Grill is proud to feature wild halibut from Alaska. As a celebration, Bluewater grill is featuring Alaskan Halibut. Alaskan Halibut is the most popular fish that we sell at Bluewater Grill. The season is open for 9 months starting with the first week in March. The Alaskan Halibut Fishery is the most successfully managed fishery in the world with the co-operative group of Alaska Fisherman adhering to the strict guidelines of size, season and only fishing in areas that are deemed populous enough for fishing.
The cold, clear, pure waters of Alaska are the perfect environment for this King of the Flatfish. The fish is served in steak form with thick, white filets that have large, tender and moist flakes. This is due to the high fat content in Alaskan fish due to their size, diet and handling by the fisherman. The better the quality of fish, the higher the price at the dock. Todays consumer demands and is willing to pay for superior fish. Bluewater Grill has relationships with several vendors that purchase directly from these fisherman's co-ops and are delivered to our doors direct "off the boats."
The first of the season Halibut are the best because the quality and fat content is at its absolute peak. The spawning season has finished and the fish have been gorging on a rich diet to regain the strength they lost.
